About
About the artist:
Jeremy is passionate about perpetuating the Hawaiian culture. His passion to share, educate & perpetuate the culture inspires him to create pieces such as the model outrigger canoes, surf inspired art and Makau (fishhook) sculptures. He is dedicated to creating the finest quality of woodwork and incorporates many local woods into his artwork.
He discovered his love for woodworking in high school roughly 30 years ago. For the past 20 years, he has been the high school woodshop/ construction teacher at his alma matter. During his tenure, he participated in the International Festival of Canoes with his students, carving full sized canoes from scratch. Additionally, he showcased his personal work in the Artists in Residence program at the Ritz Carlton Kapalua from 2015-2016.
Since the pandemic, he has decided to pursue his artistic passions full time by sharing his unique artwork with visitors and kama`aina alike. When not designing art pieces, Jeremy can be found on the jiu jitsu mats or in the mountains hunting.
